I warmed to Patrina during our very first phonecall. She wanted me to photograph her little family, in their little house, doing what they do every single day. I may have performed a happy dance, along with a fist pump. These lifestyle sessions make my heart sing. I always enjoy photographing my families out and about, but there is something so very special about capturing people in their own environments – it’s more relaxed and as a result, the images are very natural. Not only do you have memories of your family, but also of your ‘stuff’. ‘Ooooh, remember when we had the comfy old couch and the funky cushions?’ ‘Remember our little guys special toy and blanket?’

I arrived at John and Patrina’s little Paddington house at 7am, to catch some quiet time with them as the day unfurled around us. Breakfast was had, then some play time, followed by the arrival of Leo’s big sister, Eva – who he adores so very much. Finally, we all toddled off for a wander in the sunshine. A wonderful morning. Thank you for inviting me into your home guys, you were all brilliant – especially little Leo, who is such a perfect bundle.
